Touring around Scotland is made all the easier by the fact that it really isn’t a very large country– it's about the size of Indiana. That doesn’t mean to say that there is little to see – far from it. And should you find yourself lost, you can always ask a friendly Scot for assistance…which can often become the best part of the journey!

The West Highlands and
Islands of the West Coast
In many ways this breathtaking region epitomizes all of the very best that Scotland has to offer. Nestled between the mountainous grandeur of the Highlands and the rolling glens of the Lowlands, this beautiful part of Scotland has a little something for nature lovers, foodies, and history buffs alike.
Lovers of the outdoors can walk the West Highland Way – 95 miles of unspoiled scenery following those bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Walking the distance will take you all the way up to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis. With many walkers visiting the famous footpath every year, you are bound to make a few friends en route.
The pure waters of the western seaboard have their own riches – and freshly caught seafood at Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, near Inverarary, is the perfect way to satisfy those hunger pangs. Or enjoy a hearty welcome in Aulay’s Bar in Oban, coupled with a warming dram of Oban whisky, of course.
This is also the seat of Scotland’s striking past – retrace the steps of some of Scotland’s historical heavy-hitters such as William Wallace, Mary Queen of Scots, and Rob Roy. Walk to the top of the Wallace Monument. Visit the ancient Iona Abbey. Stand on the very grounds where the Scots, led by Robert the Bruce, handed King Edward a sounding defeat at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.
